PGN Saka Implements Real-Time Data Monitoring Technology for Oil and Gas Production Activities

PT Saka Energi Indonesia (PGN Saka), an upstream oil and gas company and an affiliate of PGN Subholding Gas Pertamina, has introduced a cutting-edge technology to monitor and oversee oil and gas production activities in the Pangkah Working Area (WK), East Java. This technology is known as Digital Twin, which enables real-time data visualization and remote monitoring. The technology creates a digital replica of PGN Saka's oil and gas production facilities, facilitating efficient operations.

"This technology links a 3D model with supporting data, such as engineering data and maintenance data. It's like having a comprehensive platform with 3D visualization connected to essential operational data," explained Yudi Syahnur, Information Management Specialist at PGN Saka, during the IPA Convention & Exhibition 2024 at ICE BSD (May 15, 2024).

Furthermore, PGN Saka plans to focus on data integration this year, gathering supporting data such as maintenance and engineering data. This data integration will enhance collaboration between departments by enabling them to understand each other’s needs and interact more effectively.

"The information is recorded and integrated into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). This is supported by a strong database behind these applications. Our team at PGN Saka, especially those on the ground, have worked hard to collect this data, which will be connected to a centralized database," Yudi added.

The Digital Twin technology will add significant value to the company's business processes, especially in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. It will help minimize rework, improve HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) performance, and reduce the frequency of non-urgent field visits.
