PGN Develops 4 Flagship Villages with Social Innovation Programs for Sustainable Development

Jakarta – PT PGN Tbk, as a Subholding Gas Pertamina, has successfully implemented its CSR programs through various social innovations in surrounding villages within its operational areas. This program aims to transform these villages into advanced and independent communities, contributing to sustainable development.

“All the village development programs are carried out near PGN's Offtake Stations. Through these programs, PGN builds positive relationships and communication with the surrounding communities, considering that these Offtake Stations play a key role in ensuring a stable gas supply in the areas they serve,” said Acting Corporate Secretary of PGN, Susiyani Nurwulandari.

Currently, PGN is focusing on four flagship villages as part of its CSR program. These villages include Desa Pagardewa in Muara Enim, South Sumatra; Kelurahan Harjamukti; Kelurahan Tembesi in Batam; and Desa Kalisogo in Sidoarjo.

“These four villages were selected as CSR program flagships due to the numerous social innovation programs that have been implemented, with tangible impacts on village development and empowerment,” said Susiyani.

Desa Pagardewa (Muara Enim, South Sumatra) In Desa Pagardewa, located near the Offtake Station, PGN has implemented several social innovations, such as the establishment of the "Padetra Arto Mulyo" Farmers' Cooperative to boost local economy, the development of an Eco-Tourism area (Embung), and clean water and drinking water management for the community. There are also programs for waste sorting and waste banks, as well as health and education improvements.

The impact has been significant, including the provision of a water source serving the Lubai Ulu sub-district with a capacity of 22,500 m3. Furthermore, 4,480 hectares of rubber plantations in Desa Pagardewa have been preserved, and local residents have experienced an increase in income.

Kelurahan Harjamukti (Depok, West Java) In Kelurahan Harjamukti, where PGN's Cimanggis Offtake Station is located, PGN has introduced a Waste Bank initiative to reduce the amount of waste being burned. Additionally, an Eco Enzyme program was developed, which uses organic waste to create soil fertilizers. Health programs such as the provision of supplementary food for children with stunting and support for local SMEs through business permits and food safety certifications have also been introduced.

Kelurahan Tembesi (Batam, Riau) In Kelurahan Tembesi, near the Offtake Station Panaran, PGN established the "Walidah" Waste Bank to improve the local economy. The program also included the formation of the "Agro Hijau" Women's Farmers Group to increase productivity among local women. Furthermore, a Women's Creative Independent Group (KPKM) was formed to enhance the productivity and creativity of women in the area. Products produced include local snacks, recycled crafts, soap, and herbal drinks.

Desa Kalisogo (Sidoarjo, East Java) In Desa Kalisogo, PGN has implemented a Maggot Cultivation program to reduce waste, which is used as fish feed. In addition, PGN collaborated with local residents to create tarpaulin fish ponds, promoting sustainable fish farming.

“PGN will continue its social and environmental responsibility initiatives, including the Village Development program, which brings economic and environmental benefits to the community,” concluded Susiyani.
