PGN Medan Area Expands Gas Distribution to Culinary and Laundry Sectors

Medan – PT PGN Tbk, as the Subholding Gas of Pertamina in the Medan area, is committed to continuing its distribution of natural gas to provide economic benefits for the community. In early June 2024, PGN Medan Area began supplying gas to two new customers in the small business sector.

These new customers, operating in the culinary and laundry sectors, will each use 5,000 m³ and 2,000 m³ of natural gas per month, respectively. PGN Medan Area Head Saeful Hadi revealed that the area is also processing other potential new customers, including completing the installation of the gas distribution infrastructure to reach the customers' locations.

"PGN Medan Area continues to promote the added value of natural gas to the community as a more efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly energy source. With the pipe infrastructure, it becomes more practical as there's no need to switch gas cylinders. The continuous 24-hour flow of gas is something that users will appreciate. Natural gas can be used by various sectors, ranging from households, small businesses, commercial establishments, power plants, to transportation," said Saeful on June 13, 2024.

The added value of natural gas is what has encouraged new customers to switch from gas cylinders to PGN's natural gas. Both new customers in Medan have agreed that using PGN's natural gas makes their operations more cost-effective, practical, safe, and convenient.

PGN Medan Area will continue to expand the benefits and added value to the surrounding Medan community. PGN is also committed to building dedicated pipelines to customer locations professionally and safely, ensuring that natural gas flows smoothly to kitchens and business operations.

"PGN Group is also developing infrastructure, including pipelines and other facilities such as CNG and LNG, to make it easier for the community to subscribe to natural gas for everyday use," Saeful added.

To date, PGN Medan Area serves 171 commercial and industrial customers, as well as 427 small businesses, with natural gas. PGN Medan also provides service to more than 48,000 household connections (SR). PGN hopes that by expanding infrastructure for easier access to natural gas, it can offer optimal services to sectors like restaurants, hotels, households, and industries.
