Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Checks Readiness of Pertamina Gas Network in IKN

The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, visited the readiness of State-Owned Enterprises in developing energy infrastructure in the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN), including the gas network being built by Pertamina. The development of the natural gas network in IKN is being carried out by PT Pertamina Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), a Subholding Gas of Pertamina.

Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that the government, in collaboration with BUMNs, is planning the development of a green industrial zone in IKN. Pertamina, as the gas network provider, has shown its commitment to supplying clean energy to the new capital city.

"We plan that within 10 to 15 years, we will have at least one industrial zone, but it will be a green industrial estate," said Erick.

During the visit, Vice President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Wiko Migantoro, explained that Pertamina will prioritize the gas network for energy supply in IKN.

"We are replacing it with a gas network supplied by natural gas. The construction will be integrated with the development of other utilities such as water, gas, and electricity lines," said Wiko.

The gas network will be used in various vertical housing, government-provided residences for ministers and employees in IKN. The Core Area of the Government Center (KIPP) will be developed in several phases. In the first phase, PGN is ready to serve the needs of customers, and operations are expected to begin in August.

In addition to the gas network development in IKN, Pertamina is also preparing the Pertamina Sustainable Energy Center, which includes the Pertamina Sustainability Academy, Pertamina Training Institute, and the Pertamina Research and Innovation Center for Sustainable and Low Carbon Technologies.

As a leader in the energy transition field, Pertamina is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These efforts are in line with the application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in all Pertamina business lines and operations.
