Visit to LNG Terminal FSRU Lampung: Industry Associations Witness LNG Distribution
Lampung (22/08/2024) – PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) continues its efforts to meet Indonesia's natural gas needs in a sustainable manner. The supply of conventional natural gas via pipelines is complemented by the provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The integrated natural gas network infrastructure ensures that the high demand from various sectors can be met with sufficient supply allocations for the domestic market.
Managing such infrastructure requires a high level of competence and complex processes to ensure customers receive a seamless and safe 24-hour service. To provide a deeper understanding of PGN’s efforts in maintaining reliable supply and services, on August 20-21, 2024, PGN invited representatives from various industry associations in Indonesia, who are currently active customers, to visit one of PGN's beyond pipeline facilities.
The invited representatives visited the LNG Floating Storage Regasification Unit Lampung (FSRU Lampung), located in the Java Sea, to observe the ship-to-ship LNG transfer process. The LNG, sourced from BP Tangguh, amounted to 132,709 m³. Additionally, participants engaged in discussions about FSRU operations and received education about the LNG business chain.
PGN invited representatives from the following associations:
- Indonesian Olefin, Aromatic, and Plastic Industry Association
- Indonesian Glass Producers Association
- Indonesian Ceramic Industry Association
- Indonesian Metal Casting Industry Association
- Indonesian Rubber Glove Manufacturer Association
- Indonesian Filament Yarn and Fiber Producers Association
- Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association
- Indonesian Oleochemical Producers Association
- Indonesian Sheet and Safety Glass Association
These groups represent key stakeholders from various industrial sectors utilizing PGN's natural gas services. Additionally, the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) from Banten Province was also invited to participate in the visit.
“This visit aims to introduce our business processes to our customer partners and educate them on the complexities of PGN’s role in providing reliable services and ensuring operational excellence,” said PGN Commercial Director, Ratih Esti Prihatini. The visit also sought to foster ongoing communication and sustainable relationships between PGN and its customers to support their existing business commitments.
The event received positive responses from attendees. “It was a well-organized event. The visit to FSRU Lampung gave consumers insight into LNG distribution from upstream,” said Rudy Ramadhan, a representative of the Indonesian Rubber Glove Manufacturer Association.
It is PGN's mission to provide gas-based energy that adds value for all customers and accelerates the energy transition in Indonesia. Customer participation in PGN’s business is a significant contribution that drives the company's growth. Ultimately, all industrial sectors within the natural gas value chain can grow together, supporting the economic growth targets envisioned by many stakeholders.
