Collaboration between PGN and Patra Jasa in Gas Distribution Development
Jakarta – In order to expand the development of gas distribution networks PT PGN Tbk, as a Subholding Gas of Pertamina, has partnered with PT Patra Jasa (PAJ), which is part of the Subholding Commercial & Trading. The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the development of the city gas network "GasKita" on Friday (January 5, 2024).
The MOU was signed by PGN’s Director of Sales and Operations, Ratih Esti Prihartini, and PAJ's Property Director, Whisnu Bahriansyah, in the presence of Pertamina's Director of Logistics and Infrastructure, Alfian Nasution.
Pertamina's Director of Logistics and Infrastructure, Alfian Nasution, stated that this collaboration is beneficial for supporting the businesses of both PGN and Patra Jasa, given the government's significant expectations regarding gas distribution networks. The government also considers that gas distribution is one of the efforts to reduce the need for LPG imports.
"It is hoped that many other locations will be able to use gas distribution. I am pleased with the system that PGN is currently implementing, namely clustering using CNG, which will make it easier to bring gas to areas that do not yet have a gas network," said Alfian in his remarks on January 5.
Alfian also hopes that this collaboration will continue to grow and become a comparative advantage for Patra Jasa by providing properties that are integrated with the gas network.
In agreement with Alfian, PGN's Director of Sales and Operations, Ratih Esti Prihartini, expressed that the collaboration between PGN and Patra Jasa is expected to reduce LPG imports in accordance with the government's target for the gradual development of gas distribution networks, aiming for 2.5 million household connections. Additionally, the domino effect will create job opportunities through the construction of gas distribution infrastructure.
The synergy between PGN and Patra Jasa is not a new occurrence. This was revealed by PAJ's Property Director, Whisnu Bahriansyah. Currently, Patra Jasa operates in three pillars: hospitality, property, and services. Patra Jasa and PGN have long collaborated in the property sector, particularly with PGN's subsidiary, PGN Mas.
"Today we are starting the next phase, which is cooperation in the development of gas distribution networks. There are several assets in Patra Jasa that are potential candidates for receiving natural gas from PGN, especially in terms of property development, such as apartments or housing sold by Patra Jasa," said Whisnu.
According to him, the entry of gas networks into Patra Jasa's properties will add value to the sales of apartments and houses. Additionally, it can support Pertamina Group's target of reducing emissions towards Net Zero Emission and the government's goal in developing gas distribution networks.
For both PGN and Patra Jasa, this collaboration is an initial stage that can be quickly developed for the benefit of both parties. PGN is also committed to continuously working towards meeting the gas distribution targets set by Pertamina.
